Angry Birds
It seems like the developers of the insanely popular Angry Birds are hell bent on bringing the game to every platform known to not-so-humble humans. Case in point: the bird sling fest is now available for free in your favourite web browser… as long as your browser is Chrome.
Free Mobile Ringtones
The Ringtone Society, provides free mobile ringtones composed by musicians of all stripes.
From their site:
“The Ringtone Society is an
international platform that aims to liberate the world of musically
banal ringtones that have infiltrated our neighbourhoods. HOW? By
asking composers and musicians from all over the world to join us in
creating original ringtones and inviting you to acquire and use as many
as you like, and thus protecting society from the digitally-dull
ringtone! Let the revolution be mobilised!”
While all their ringtones are indeed free, some of them are only available in select countries.

Feed the Hungry, Learn New Words

Photo: David Monniaux
Is it possible to learn new words and feed the hungry at the same time? At FreeRice.com, you can train yourself to be the next spelling bee champ while contributing to relieve famine. Corporations foot the bill for the rice and in exchange receive a small ad space at the bottom of the web site. The actual food is distributed via the World Food Programme, which was setup by the United Nations Organisation to provide emergency relief for the hungriest people on the planet.
Update 08/09/2010:
Some major features have now been implemented to the site. In addition to vocabulary, quizzes also include subjects such as chemistry and geography. Of course, no charitable entity can spare itself from the mighty social web these days, so you can now sign up as a member and flaunt your karma boosting scores to all your friends on Facebook and company.
